SEATTLE - Heres what has set the defending champion Seattle Seahawks apart: They seem to have perfected not overhyping an individual game. While others are willing to acknowledge the enormity of the moment, the Seahawks thrive by keeping everything even.Im just thinking to myself, Its the same for us. Its not going to be different. Its going to be another football game. Its going to be us versus yall, Seattle linebacker Bruce Irvin said. Thats the biggest thing. Our mindset is different. Pete (Carroll) has us at a whole different level than other people think. That approach will be tested on Saturday night when the Seahawks (12-4) host the Carolina Panthers in an NFC divisional playoff game. Aside from facing an opponent with similar qualities, the Seahawks will be trying to overcome recent history. No defending Super Bowl champion has won a playoff game the following year since New England in January 2006. Three defending champs have earned a playoff bye since then only to get upset at home in the divisional round. The most recent was Green Bay, which went 15-1 in 2011 and was knocked off by the New York Giants at home. That is the history the Seahawks are attempting to ignore and the trend the Panthers (8-8-1) are hoping to continue.I think we have the experience of it being the same game to us and understanding that we play a championship game every week and this is no different, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman said. We play it like its an elimination game every week so it doesnt change that for us.The Seahawks are riding a six-game winning streak, turning the contentiousness of a 6-4 record into a second straight NFC West title and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Theyve also won three straight regular-season games against the Panthers. But the Panthers have a way of making things difficult on the Seahawks. None of the three games were decided by more than five points and neither team scored more than 16.Carolina is trying to become the first team to reach the conference championship game after making the playoffs with a losing record. Seattle knows the road Carolina is trying to travel. The Seahawks won the NFC West in 2010 with a 7-9 mark and beat New Orleans in the wild-card round before falling to Chicago. The truth of the matter is it doesnt matter how you get in, just get in, and then see what happens, Carolina coach Ron Rivera said. Its what happened to Seattle a few years back, they got hot. They got hot, they won a game, thats kind of the way we look at it. We got hot, we won a home field playoff game, but we just go from there. Here are other things to watch as Seattle seeks an eighth straight playoff win at home:CAM AND RUSS: Cam Newton has never played well against Seattle and all those games have been at home. Newton has a passer rating of 70.6 and been sacked eight times in three games against the Seahawks. Its about going into a hostile environment and not only proving to people, but proving to ourselves that we belong here, Newton said.Russell Wilson hasnt been perfect, but has managed to make key plays to go 3-0 against Carolina. This season, Wilson hit Luke Willson on a 23-yard TD in the final minute to pull out the victory.PANTHERS ON THE RUN: The Panthers are averaging 196.6 yards rushing per game during their current win streak.Jonathan Stewart has carried the load, averaging 104.8 yards per game with two touchdowns during that span.Newton is averaging 56.2 yards per game with three TDs during the stretch. One of the main reasons for the improved play is the Panthers have found consistency on the offensive line, starting the same five players for the past six games.SUFFOCATING: When All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner and safety Kam Chancellor returned from injuries, Seattles defence became suffocating. The Seahawks didnt allow any fourth-quarter points during their six-game winning streak. They allowed 39 total points and an average of 202.2 total yards.GANO STRUGGLING: Carolinas Graham Gano parlayed an outstanding season in 2013 into a big contract this past off-season. Hes 30 of 37 this year, but has struggled in recent weeks with missed field goals in three of the last four games. Hes also struggled in the fourth quarter, converting just 8 of 12 attempts.EAR PLUGS: Newton and his Carolina teammates have never experienced CenturyLink Field and its notorious noise. Sherman called the first experience for any opponent in Seattle unnerving. Including the post-season, Seattle has won 24 of 26 at home.I never think you can be a championship team unless you have a great advantage when you play at home, Carroll said.___AP Sports Writer Steve Reed contributed to this report.___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFLWomens Blackhawks Jerseys . The Hammers travel to the King Power Stadium on Super Sunday looking to halt Leicester Citys charge for the Premier League title.Ahead of the game, Payet sat down with his compatriot, and Sky Sports pundit, Henry to discuss life in the Premier League, free-kicks, his return to the France national team and his long-term aspirations. Read on to discover what one of the current stars of the Premier League had to say to one of the all-time greats in a wide-ranging interview...HENRY: Id like to know what attracted you to the Premier League? Sky Sports Thierry Henry catches up with West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet PAYET: I think it came from watching matches. When I was a Ligue 1 player and there were big games on, as they say here on a Sunday afternoon, you could see the stadiums and the atmosphere, it was amazing. I really wanted to experience it and thats exactly whats happening at the moment.HENRY: At the time (you signed for West Ham), I was surprised. With no disrespect to West Ham, of course, Id like to know if you had any offers from other clubs? Payet highlights his relationship with Slaven Bilic at Upton Park PAYET: Other clubs did get in contact, but it didnt go further than that. My choice was to come to West Ham, mainly because Id spoken to the manager. Speaking to the coach has been my number-one criterion at every club Ive played for to find out what he expects from me, how he will make me improve and that hell play me. Thierry Henry has praised Dimitri Payets performances for West Ham this season West Ham was the best choice for me on the back of my best season in Ligue 1. I dont think there was much room left for progress in Ligue 1. Id done almost everything there. Coming to England to play in a different league under a coach who already wanted me when he was at Besiktas... I understood that Id be an important player for him and a club like West Ham that, as you said, is not one of the biggest, was the best platform for me to continue my development. Mark Noble one of three players highlighted by Payet for their encouragement HENRY: At West Ham, I can see how the players look at you. They know perfectly well that you can make the difference and theyll defend for you. Are there any players like that who say such things to you?PAYET: Id say we have three of them here: (Cheikhou) Kouyate, (Angelo) Ogbonna, the centre-back, and (Mark) Noble. Strangely enough, its the guys who do the running. They run for you. Its strange, it puts pressure on me, but a positive type. I knoow that when he gives me the ball, he expects me to do something positive for the team.ddddddddddddThey relieve me of my defensive duties. Its a big statement of confidence for me and it shows they have faith in me.HENRY: Youve worked hard and youve made it back into the national team. How did it go with Didier (Deschamps), who I know well and I know what hes like? Dimitri Payet (L) joined up with the France squad for the recent friendlies with Russia and Netherlands PAYET: Yes, we explained a few things to each other. We hadnt seen each other or spoken in almost a year. We had a quick talk and he told me what he expected from me and thats what Im like. Im not speaking about being a starter or a substitute, but he at least made things clear. From that moment onwards, I felt good and in terms of the group, I was looked at differently because I was playing in the Premier League. What Ive been doing at West Ham didnt have the same impact as what I was doing at Marseille. I really felt that. HENRY: I have to speak to you about your free-kicks because you have your own technique. Did you have to work hard on it? Do you still work on it? Dimitri Payets exquisite free-kicks have been a trademark of his seamless adaptation to the Premier League PAYET: I worked on it, I worked on it until I scored the first one. When the first one went in, I stopped because I felt Id found the right technique. You already have the shot, its about the steps and the way you take it.As soon as I worked that out, I stopped and its been the same story since. Ive been taking two in training and before the match. Thats the difficulty with free-kicks as you get one, maybe two and thats why its tough. You have to score. Payet and Henry agree that once you have mastered the art of taking free-kicks, you should not over-practise them Im happy because free-kicks and set-pieces have become very important in football nowadays. Its another side to my game and Im happy about it.HENRY: What does the future hold for Dimitri Payet? Can you see yourself at West Ham in a year, two years or even three years? Are you here for the long term?PAYET: Yes, because I never could have imagined experiencing a year quite like this one. Things are going well and Im enjoying it. The team is good, we have a great coach and the fans are amazing, so I want to go far with this club because Im in this position thanks to them offering the best possible conditions for me to express myself on the pitch.Catch the full exclusive interview with Dimitri Payet, followed by live coverage of Leicester v West Ham, on Super Sunday, 12.30pm, Sky Sports 1 HD Also See: Sky Live: Leicester v West Ham West Hams striker shortlist Fantasy Six-A-Side Mersons predictions Cheap Buffalo Sabres GearWholesale Calgary Flames JerseysCheap Adidas Colorado Avalanche JerseysMontreal Canadiens Outlet StoreWholesale New Jersey Devils JerseysAdidas Arizona Coyotes JerseysCheap Adidas Boston Bruins JerseysCheap Adidas Carolina Hurricanes JerseysChicago Blackhawks Shop Free ShippingWholesale Columbus Blue Jackets JerseysDallas Stars Shop Free ShippingCheap Adidas Detroit Red Wings JerseysAnaheim Ducks Jerseys ChinaWholesale Edmonton Oilers JerseysFlorida Panthers Shop Free ShippingWholesale Los Angeles Kings JerseysMinnesota Wild Outlet StoreCheap Adidas Nashville Predators JerseysCheap Adidas New York Islanders JerseysNew York Rangers Winter Classic JerseysCheap Adidas Ottawa Senators JerseysCheap Adidas Philadelphia Flyers JerseysWholesale Pittsburgh Penguins JerseysCheap Adidas San Jose Sharks JerseysSt. Louis Blues Winter Classic JerseysWholesale Tampa Bay Lightning JerseysToronto Maple Leafs Outlet StoreVancouver Canucks Outlet StoreCheap Adidas Vegas Golden Knights JerseysCheap Adidas Washington Capitals JerseysCheap Adidas Winnipeg Jets Jerseys ' ' '
